LSQ Academics & Curriculum

The Loreto Difference ~ Where Learning Meets Faith, and Every Child Blooms

Reading in Primary Schools

A Safe & Nurturing Environment

At Loreto School Queenswood, our curriculum is CAPS-aligned, ensuring academic excellence while nurturing the whole child -mind, body and spirit. We enrich learning with Mathletics, Reading Eggs and benchmark progress through IEB (Independent Examinations Board) assessments, giving our scholars both national and international credibility.

Our philosophy blends tradition and innovation through S.T.R.E.A.M.
Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts (+Music) and Mathematics.

This approach equips our learners with critical skills, creativity and a strong moral compass.

Igniting a Love for Reading and Discovery

At Loreto Queenswood Primary, we believe that reading is the gateway to knowledge, imagination and lifelong learning.

Our fully equipped library is designed to inspire curiosity and a love for books from a young age.

From picture books for our youngest learners to age-appropriate novels and reference materials for older learners, we carefully guide each child in developing strong reading skills, comprehension and a passion for stories.

Through regular library time, storytelling sessions and reading challenges, our learners:

  • Build confidence in literacy from the earliest grades.

  • Explore a wide range of subjects and genres, broadening their horizons.

  • Cultivate critical thinking, imagination, and empathy through stories and research.

At Loreto Queenswood Primary, reading isn’t just a subject, it’s an adventure that sparks curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning

Learning with Educational Software

Engaging, Interactive, and Fun

We go beyond traditional teaching methods by incorporating innovative learning apps that make education both fun and effective. Our learners  have access to:

Reading Eggs

  • A playful, interactive platform that helps learners develop strong reading skills from an early age.

  • Engages children through games, stories and rewards, making reading an exciting adventure.

  • Builds phonics, comprehension and vocabulary, setting a strong foundation for lifelong literacy.

Mathletics

  • A dynamic, interactive platform that strengthens numeracy and problem-solving skills.

  • Encourages healthy competition and progress tracking, keeping learners motivated and engaged.

  • Allows learners to practice concepts at their own pace, reinforcing classroom learning.

By integrating these apps into our curriculum, we give our learners a digital edge while nurturing a love for learning. These tools allow children to explore, experiment and grow, all in a safe and guided environment, something not many schools provide.
