Technology at Loreto: Designing, Building and Innovating

"Innovation begins where curiosity meets action!"

Technology at Loreto School Queenswood

A Safe & Nurturing Environment

Technology at Loreto is about more than tools and models, it is about learning how to think, plan and create.

From Grade 4 to Grade 7

... learners engage with the full Technology Design Process:

  • Receiving a design brief,

  • Investigating solutions,

  • Planning and drawing,

  • Selecting materials, constructing,

  • Then evaluation of their work.

Along the way, they discover how creativity and problem-solving connect to the real world.

Hands-on Learning

Grade 4 to Grade 7

Technology starts with curiosity, creativity and practical projects.

Across Grades 4 to 7, Technology at Loreto Queenswood Primary builds practical skills, creativity and critical problem-solving abilities.

Every project, from recycled pots to hydraulic arms, teaches learners how to think like designers and innovators.

The curriculum equips them with knowledge, yes ... but more importantly, it cultivates creativity, resilience, and confidence to apply what they learn in real-world contexts. At our school, Technology is about preparing learners not just for school projects, but for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Technology is all about giving learners the chance to be hands-on, creative, and excited to discover what they can do.

Exploring Real-World Application in Grade 6

As skills grow, so do the challenges.

Every project encouraged innovation with purpose, preparing learners to solve problems in everyday life.

Innovation in Action

World of Technology Class

In their final year of Technology, learners take on advanced challenges that blend design, creativity and engineering.

  • Design & Communication skills developed through sketches, technical drawings and working plans.

  • Mechanical systems came alive with bottle openers, gearboxes and even a hydraulic arm able to grip and lift objects.

  • In structures, learners designed egg-protection shells:

    • Creative safety devices tested with a dramatic nine-metre drop!

These challenges required not only technical know-how but also teamwork, resilience and bold thinking.

How To Apply

Applications are open throughout the year. Submit your child's application inquiry to Loreto School Queenswood Preschool and Primary School to take the first step to becoming a part of the Loreto School Queenswood Community.
